CHamoru Kada Ha'åni

The Guam Commission on Decolonization and the Department of CHamoru Affairs present “CHamoru Kada Ha’åni,” a curated showcase of local creative works that highlights our rich culture and the many talents of our people.

The first theme, “Ta Na’homlo’ I Tano’-ta” (Healing Our Island) forces us to look within and find the strength and wisdom that our ancestors have given us. Despite centuries of colonization, and with the ongoing pandemic, the spirits of i mañaina-ta remain strong within us.

I CHalån-ta Mo'na (Our Path Forward) is the second theme that highlights all that we have within ourselves and within our community as we navigate our path toward decolonization, self-determination, and cultural sovereignty.

As we continue our quest for decolonization, self-determination, and cultural sovereignty, we must wield our identity as island people, as indigenous people, and as CHamoru people to empower one another and heal our island.
